Board of Directors

Providence Montessori School is operated as a not-for-profit corporation, governed by a Board of Directors. The parents of enrolled children are the members of the corporation, which, in effect, means that the parents own the school. This is only one of the many reasons that the school emphasizes both parental involvement and continuous, two-way communication between the parents and the school.

The parent-elected Board of Directors hires the Director of the school, who in turn hires the educational, administrative and support staff. The Director oversees the day-to-day operations of the school.

The Board of Directors governs the school. It is largely formed of, and elected by, parents. Our Board is composed of the school director, office manager, Founder and/or longest serving staff member, parent representatives and members at large (past parents).
Teacher representatives are elected by the staff. The board elects the officers of the Board (President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary) to one-year terms.
