Parent Education

Upcoming Events

Providence wants to educate parents about the philosophy and application of Montessori education. Throughout the year, we will hold parent education nights, lectures and/or forums. The Parent Education Committee works to bring parents and teachers together to help strengthen the collaborative efforts which are currently in place.

Current and prospective parents are invited to join us for all education seminars.

Parent Education Night

Our first Parent Education Night will focus on Practical Life in the Montessori Classrooms.
                                      When: Thursday, October 20, 2011
                                                       Time: 7:00pm

Come learn how Practical Life in the Montessori classroom helps shape the child into
independent, self-disciplined, and prideful learner. Practical Life starts in our
Toddler House and is carried all the way through to our Upper Elementary Levels.

See how pouring, spooning, and transferring liquid helps the child
concentrate and develop fine motor skills.

See how the child takes pride in cleaning "their" environment, which helps
              them develop responsibility.

See how children at the Lower Elementary level sew, iron, preparing snack
and take care of the classroom pets.
See how our upper Elementary students are cooking in the Life Lab, setting their table for
lunch, cleaning the classroom, participating in community service projects.

Last but not least Grace and Courtesy is learned and practiced in all of our
Montessori environments and is part of Practical Life.

Grandparents Day/Open House Each October, Providence Montessori School sets aside a day for family and friends to visit classrooms and tour school grounds. This is a wonderful chance for students to show grandparents and parents their classroom and activities they work on during the school day. Grandparents have been an integral part of the creation and success of Providence and we celebrate this day to honor them. Interested families wishing to join our community are also invited to view the school.

Growing Peaceful Families - Do you feel like you need more peace in your home and some more tools in your parenting tool box?  Schuyler Roop, a former Providence teacher, and Lesley Iwinski, MD are certified parent and teacher educators through the International Network for Children and Families.
